My new Sump Gaurd arrived from Mantec (purchased through Rovers North). It took about four months to arrive, but the wait and cost were well worth it. I had to buy it sight unseen, as they have no pictures or specs. I simply trusted they are one of the best manufacturers of things like this. Here it is out of the box, it weighs about 60lbs and is solid steel. I had expected aluminum, but was glad to see it was steel and powder coated. Many of their guards for other trucks I have seen are unpainted aluminum, that would not have looked right on this truck.
I put the truck up on stands. No instructions were included. I originally thought this would fit "over" the plastic trim pieces, but I quickly determined I would need to remove all of the plastic "sump guard."
With everything removed including the fake vents, it was time to lift it into place.
Here it is installed. The attention to detail was impressive. They even replicated the fake vents, but now they're actually real! I didn't expect such detail in 3/8" steel.
Here is the finished product, it blends in well, doesn't call any attention to itself.
