Mojave Road May 2008

In May we decided to attempt our first "long range" journey. That meant the fist time we would attempt "primitive camping" with no access to water, fuel or food for about 180 miles across the Mojave desert. We had a great time with two other trucks from SCLR (Southern California Land Rover). We lined up, aired down and were on our way.

OK, the first night wasn't very "primitive", we ended up at a campsite, but we never used the toilet or water available.. nice to know it was there just in case..

"Land Rover" brining civility to unlikely places.

At "the mailbox"

Ok, blew a tire on a rock, my fault, I looked away for just a second...
Not the best time to change a tire... 105 degrees outside with no shade.. Didn't take long though..

The rock pile!
The "invisible chair"

Our first water crossing! Ok, our second, we didn't get a shot of the first one....
The wind got so bad that night, I had to pull the Rover around and lower the suspension to block the wind from blowing the tent over.
In the morning.. yes, that's the shower/toilet we carry with us. After all, we aren't barbarians!

Baby rattle snake, the only danger on the whole trip and it was at the end when we were airing back up.
