Sleeper Setup

The Range Rover is a great vehicle and is great for camping. However, the rear seats "tumble" forward and what's left is an uneven floor and not enough space to sleep in the back if you don't feel like pitching a tent (bad weather or just stopping for one night during a trip). The LR3 by comparison is built so the seats fold down flat, but I think the design of the Range Rover by not doing that, allows the fuel tank to be tucked way up out of harms way when off road. It's a trade off. Not needing the back seats anyway on our trips, I decided to create the option to remove them and place a flat board to level off the floor so we could sleep back there out of the weather (especially the cold).
After removing the seats, I made a template then cut 1/2" plywood to fit.

On the left you can see the larger platform already in place. The smaller platform is ready for carpet.

Inside is very quiet and comfortable.

Blackout shades keep out the sun in the morning and give privacy at night.

Bug screens allow you to keep the windows open but keep the bugs out. Running the windows up or down keeps the temperature very controllable.
